GUEST POLICIES
Check-in. 3:00pm. For arrival after dark, arrangements can be made to have the cottage porch lights on.
Check-out. 11:00am. Guests leaving after 11:00 am are charged an additional nights lodging. Final Check: Please return the kitchen and the dining area to the clean conditions in which you found them at check-in (including all dishes, utensils, appliances and surfaces) and remove all trash, garbage and recyclables to the relevant areas, as designated below. There is no maid service at Beau Soleil, but special arrangements can be made.
Children; pets. Infants and children over the age of 12 are welcome to stay at Beau Soleil. Pets are not allowed.
Parking. A parking space for Beau Soleil tenants is located just off the alley, on the far side of the carport belonging to 143 Fourth Street. You may also park along Fourth Street.
Luggage. Luggage racks are provided in the upstairs closet and behind the media cabinet downstairs. Their use will reduce damage to cottage furniture and is greatly appreciated.
Sofabed. When the sofabed is used, the floor can be damaged from abrasion. Use of a towel (provided in the small wicker basket), placed under the metal bar at the foot of the bed frame will help protect the floor.
Phones. Long distance dialing is not available from the cottage, except with your telephone calling card. The cottage phone number is 541-482-1931.
Thermostat. The heating/cooling system in the cottage is not very quick, but is flexible. All central air adjustments to heat or cool the cottage must occur in increments of a few degrees over a period of several hours.
Appliances and utensils. Instructions for the use and care of cottage appliances are in a notebook in the media cabinet. Titanium or teflon-type surfaces of pots and pans are easily ruined by contact with metal objects and abrasive cleaners. Wood and plastic cooking spoons and forks, and appropriate cleaning articles are profided for your use.
Smoking. Smoking is not allowed inside of the cottage. Ashtrays are available on the patio and deck.
Fire extinguishers. Fire extinguishers are located under the kitchen sink and upstairs, on the wall in the laundry nook. Please advise someone in the front house right away if the needle does not currently register in the "full zone."
Plumbing. The sewage line for Beau Soleil Cottage rests at a shallow angle and cannot accommodate "cloggables" such as food (except food correctly processed with cold water in the food-disposal unit), coffee grounds, sanitary pads, paper towels, paints or chemicals. Please dispose of such items with your garbage or in an appropriate facility.
Housekeeping. Beau Soleil Cottage is a shared, environmentally conscious vacation house. Linens: Re-using towels and linens saves water, but special needs can be accommodated. Simply hang up towels you wish to re-use. Towels left in containers in each bathroom will be picked up and replaced periodically. We prefer that all linens be laundered by us at the front house. Fresh sheets can be made available daily on request. Property damage: Guests are responsible for the care and upkeep of all Beau Soleil Cottage property and services during their tenancy. Please report any problems of property or services to one of us in the front house (143 Fourth, 482-1931) immediately.
Garbage collection. On the carport adjacent to Beau Soleil Cottage you will find a couple of large black garbage cans for 143 and 145 Fourth Street. Your bags of garbage should be well secured and placed there in one of the (lidless) cans. Sometimes we have marauding raccoons, so please make sure that your garbage is carefully enclosed in a heavy bag.
Ashland Recycling. The blue lidded roll-cart near the bike shed just off the cottage sidewalk, is for recycling unbundled, commingled, clean recyclables. It can be used only for certain items, such as newspapers, flattened corrugated cardboard, plastic bottles #1-7, aluminum cans, and phonebooks. You may also add magazines, catalogs (1/2¡± thick or less), mixed waste paper, and tin cans. Acceptable plastic bottles and jugs have a neck smaller than the base: milk jugs, pop bottles, juice containers, detergent bottles, water bottles¡. Sorry, other types of plastics¡ªsuch as margarine tubs, yogurt cups and plastic bags¡ªand glass bottles cannot be included in the blue-lidded cart. But near it, on a covered shelf, are a pair of small blue recycling bins. They can be used for unbundled glass containers only. Containers that are not accepted for recycling are those that have held motor oil, pesticides, herbicides, or other hazardous materials. All recycled containers must be rinsed and lidless.
Thanks for your cooperation!
